George McNinch

George Arthur McNinch III, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 21st, just six days after his 69th birthday. George grew up in Tulsa, OK, and played baseball, football and golf for Memorial High School. He went to Oklahoma University on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a degree in accounting and finance. George worked for International Harvester for 15 years and Haliburton for 25 years. While with Haliburton, he worked and lived overseas in Scotland where he lived in an old windmill and then in Lagos Nigeria, Africa, where he touted about putting golf balls on the ‘oils’ of Nigeria. George and his wife moved several times because of his work, which finally took him to Houston where he spent years working in the same field for other oil companies until his retirement in 2018. George grew up hunting with his dad and spent several years as a Boy Scout. He was an avid OU football fan, loved traveling, boating and just being near water, playing golf and watching baseball, especially his Houston Astros. George loved spending time with his friends and his loving wife of 21 years, Mary Jo (“Sweetie”), who he adored. George was crazy about all his pets, particularly his Westies, now Mulligan and Bogey aka Stinker. George was preceded in death by his parents, George Arthur McNinch, Jr., born in Tonawanda, NY, and his mother Emma Lee Swicegood McNinch, born in Tulsa, OK. George is survived by his wife, Mary Jo McNinch and stepdaughter, Aleena Gramatikos (“Ally”) and partner Hans Heidle of Falls Church, VA; his sisters Susan White and husband Joey of Tulsa, OK, and Jeanne Fishpaw and husband Larry of Tulsa, OK; niece Courtney King of Tulsa, OK, nephew and Godson, Casey King and wife BJ of McKinney, TX, niece Lindsey Fishpaw Collins and husband AC of Verdigris, OK, and great nieces and nephews Caitlin, Charley Rose, Sydney and Johnny of McKinney, TX, and Ayden and Cason of Verdigris, OK. George will always be remembered for his stubborn convictions, his huge heart, and insurmountable love for family and friends.
