Anne Gokey

Anne Marette Gokey, nee Nolan, passed away at her home in Spring, TX on May 8TH 2020, after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. She was 56. Anne Marette was born on May 10, 1964 to Eileen (Feely) and the late Anthony Nolan. She grew up in the Bronx and West Haverstraw, NY. Anne married Thomas Gokey in 1990 and they lived in Cornwall on Hudson, NY before relocating to Spring, TX in 2011. She graduated from North Rockland HS in 1982 and from Berkeley College in 1987. She held several jobs over the course of her career, until she took on her most rewarding role as a full-time wife and mother. She had so much love to give and was completely fulfilled once she took on that role. Family was first and foremost in Anne’s life. She gave unconditional love to her husband, children, mother, siblings and extended family. She was an excellent cook and loved to share her creations. Hosting gatherings filled her with joy. Anne Marette loved to dance and was the life of the party, even when there was no party! She also had a rare talent of making and keeping life-long friends. She had a gift for putting others’ needs and wants before her own. If you called to check up on Anne, the conversation often turned to Anne checking up on you. Anne was a continuously active member of AA for 32 years, where she developed strong and loving relationships. Anne’s compassion, support and wit helped many in their struggles. She was unable to attend meetings towards the end of her illness, so the meetings came to her. They provided the support and encouragement that she needed and had so often provided to others. Anne Marette is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 30 years, Thomas, and her children, Jillian, Tommy and Alyssa, who were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Eileen, her sisters, Maureen (Brian) Verwort, Cathy Boniello, Eileen (Robert) Dzichko and Rita (Michael) Seaman and her brother, Michael Nolan. Anne also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count. Anne’s passing is a devastating loss to all who knew her and those she was yet to meet. Her beautiful, infectious smile, outgoing personality and positive, encouraging attitude will truly be missed. We’re sure she greeted everyone in Heaven with her usual words, “Hello Beautiful”!
