Arlene Florence Gilmore

Arlene Florence Gilmore, 81, of Spring, Texas passed away on December 30, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents Julius and Florence Muha, brother Jule Muha, husband of 60 years Craig S. Gilmore and son Joseph Michael Gilmore. Arlene is survived by her children Craig Steven Gilmore and wife Rhonda, daughter Melanie Gilmore Sloan and husband Gregory. Grandchildren; Andrew, Cody and Joshua Espieg, Laura Gilmore Bantug and husband Mark, Catherine Gilmore, Amanda Sloan, Garrett Sloan and wife Jess, Austin Sloan and wife Payton. Great grandchildren; James, Luke and Colin Bantug, Ryleigh Sloan and Dakota Sloan and Niece Debbie Muha. Arlene was born in Newark, N.J. on March 21st 1942. Although being 5 years apart she and her brother Jule were very close and she had him wrapped around her finger. As she stated many times, she could always get him to do what she wanted. She enjoyed roller and ice skating and when she met the love of her life, at 14, they actually competed in many roller skating dance competitions together. Her favorite place to be though was at the beach! Arlene and Craig married in January of 1961. At the time, she was working selling insurance. When they had their 1st child, Arlene became a stay at home mom but stayed very busy fixing up their 1st home which was an old farmhouse in Sommerville, N.J that needed LOTS of work. In 1972, Arlene and Craig moved to Watertown, Ct. and she worked as a secretary for a meat processing plant. In 1976 Arlene found her true passion- Real Estate. She got her sales and brokers license and went to work running the resale side of Tedesco Real Estate. In 1983, due to another transfer they moved to VA. Beach and again she immediately got both licenses. It was there that she became a specialist working with Military members both active duty and veterans. In 1985, they moved to Spring, Texas and got yet another license while still holding all of the others. This is where she worked until finally retiring in 2022. Arlene and her daughter worked as partners for many years with a high specialty in Relocation. She had many accreditations to her name and was very involved with many organizations. One of her favorites was being a founding member of The Women’s Council of Realtors Great NW and when her daughter was named to the board she beamed with pride as she pinned her for the tradition to be carried on. Arlene was a very sweet, outgoing lady with a heart of gold but boy was she feisty. She never met a stranger. She was dedicated to her clients and many of them became close friends throughout the years. Her friends always knew that she would be there for fun and laughter but also for a shoulder to cry on or anything they needed. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled. Arlene led a long full life and is now back in the arms of her great love, Craig, who she missed terribly. She will be extremely missed by so many. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to either the Heart Association or the Epilepsy Foundation…two charities that meant a great deal to her.
