Barbara Claudine Smith

Barbara "Claudine" Smith, 83, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024 in Cypress, Texas. She was born on September 29, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri to Claude Elmer Manion and Bertha Compton Manion. Her older sister Virginia Ruth "Ruthie" Manion was 9 years old when she was born. It is evident that Ruthie adored little Claudine, or “Claudie” as Ruthie called her, and they remained very close throughout their lifetime until Ruthie's passing in 2023. Claudine graduated from Normandy Senior High School in the Normandy School District of St. Louis, Missouri on June 5, 1958. Claudine met Billy Lynn Crow at church just outside of St. Louis, Missouri and they married on October 4, 1958, in Overland, Missouri. Their children, Laura, Cyndi, Greg, and Josh were her pride and joy as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She often commented that she was so blessed to have 4 children who were all believers in Christ. Claudine was blessed in her second marriage to Colonel Clarence "Bill" Smith in 1997. Bill and Claudine met in 1996 at a dance and enjoyed 18 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2015. Claudine had a fulfilling career in the insurance industry for 40 years. She dedicated herself to her work, leaving a lasting impact in her position. Outside of her professional life, Claudine found joy in attending and serving as a greeter at Second Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, for 12 years. Her faith was an integral part of her life. In her leisure time, Claudine cherished moments spent at the ranch with her husband Bill and her family and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies. Her family meant everything to her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was also passionate about caring for animals and loved caring for her horses, cattle, and dogs throughout her life. Claudine was preceded in death by her loving husband and companion Colonel Clarence "Bill" Smith, her mother Bertha Compton Manion McDaniel, her father Claude Elmer Manion, her step-father Thomas McDaniel, her beloved older sister Virginia Ruth (Ruthie) Manion Stauffer, her brother in law Glennon (Glen) Stauffer, and her former spouse and father of her 4 children, Billie Lynn Crow. Claudine is survived by her children Laura Harris (Peter), Cynthia "Cyndi" Dalton (Greg), Greg Crow (Joda), Joshua Crow (Rishay), her grandchildren Kristin Maxwell (Bill), Kara Townsend (Jay), Ashley Dalton, Kyle Dalton (Claire), Kelsey Higgins (Derek), Kody Dalton, Logan Crow (Greer), Catherine Crow, Landon Crow, Colton Crow, Jude Crow, Carlynn Crow, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jaquelyn Maxwell, Kyle Stokes, Mia Reynolds, John Maxwell, Jayme Kruithof, Denym Dalton, Stevie Jo Dalton, Jaxon Higgins, Wyatt Higgins, and Savannah Higgins. Claudine will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace. Addison Funeral Home will not be attending funeral services.
