Brett Aaron Dresch

Brett Aaron Dresch was born in Bexar County, Texas on May 5th, 1962 and went home to the Lord on September 27th, 2023. He grew up in San Antonio where he spent a majority of his time outdoors alongside family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and motorcyclist throughout his life. Brett was a master craftsman and general contractor for more than 30 years, having built or remodeled thousands of homes throughout his lifetime. His meticulous attention to detail was the defining characteristic of his work and quality of his labor was second to none. Brett would always describe himself as “redeemed”. He loved the Lord and loved to share his testimony with anyone willing to listen. He believed in Jesus and the power of the Gospel to change the life of anyone in any condition. This grace he felt by Jesus moved his heart to help others, offering them money, opening his home, and a daily job. He knew no stranger. Brett was a dad that loved his children with his entire being. He loved to be their playmate when they were little. And as they grew older he wanted to be their friend. He was affectionate, compassionate, funny and loving. There is no doubt that all four are his greatest accomplishments! God gave his children a harder path in becoming who they were meant to be but Brett’s mistakes made them the amazing parents they are today. They are forever grateful for how that shaped them. Beyond all descriptions, Brett was “Granddad”, a name he chose in 2020, saying “I wasn’t the best dad to ya’ll, so I want to be the grandest dad to my grandchildren.” From that moment on, he became a beloved, enthusiastic, ever-present grandfather. His fierce love for his family, especially his grandchildren, was both beautiful and inspiring. He gave his heart, his energy, his time, and all that he had to his family and friends - a selfless, sacrificial love that defined his character and touched the lives of so many. He made you feel seen and his heart was always looking for opportunities to help. Brett is survived by his four children Tabatha Steen, Sontera Mader, Danielle Howard, and Derek Dresch; his son-in-law’s Tony Steen and Owen Howard; his ex-wife Sandra Dresch; his siblings Darryl Purvis, Dala Teters, Andrea Purvis, and David Dresch; and his numerous grandchildren: Gavyn Steen, Bradyn Steen, Landyn Steen, Stormie Mader, Parker Mader, David Howard, Peyton Vera, Darla Howard, Emma Vera, Eden Howard, Hazel Dresch, and Mathias Dresch. Brett was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Jean Cummins and father Andrew Franklin Purvis.
