Ena Commissiong

REST IN PEACE In memory of Ena Commissiong (Joseph), who passed on Sunday August 8th, 2021. She was born on July 22nd, 1921, in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. Her former places of residence were Trinidad, New York City, Arizona, Florida and finally Houston Texas. She was the last of her siblings and the only one in her family to pass at the epic age of 100 years. Mom, Ms. Ena, or Grandma Ena are the many names she was called. She had seven children. Two of whom are deceased (Harry and George) and five surviving children... Timothy, Sylvia, Cynthia, Charmaine and Irmaine, 16 grandchildren , 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mom was a proud, loving, and respected woman. She was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. Through good times and bad, she was always there for us all. Nothing was ever too much to share, give or solve in time of need. She was such a generous woman. She would always say, “give and you shall receive.” She was also known for her babysitting skills for family and friends alike. She will be missed by ALL. *Funny reminiscent thoughts from her surviving children….. *Cynthia: Everyone knows "The Eye" when she is trying to get your attention if you did something wrong. I'm sure you've done it with your children😳 *Irmaine: Mom was a regular prankster. For example……while living in NewYork, mom would visit my sister and her family. Since mom was familiar with her daily routine when she came home from work (she would place her bag on the recliner, put her coat in the closet, and go to her bedroom), mom would sit on the recliner and as my sister attempted to put her bag on the recliner, mom would extend her hand to receive the coat. Those were some of her many pranks. *Charmaine: Mom always said, laughter is good medicine. She would begin a conversation laughing and you had no idea what the joke was, however, you would end up laughing with her. That we will never forget and will treasure those moments. *Sylvia: Mom loved the Casino. While she lived in New York, on many occasions we went to Atlantic City via excursion bus. On one particular occasion, I went with her and upon returning on the bus, everyone asked her if she won. Her response was, so so (meaning she won some money). Then they would ask her, how about your daughter. Her response was, she played $20.00, but did not win, so she sat and read a book. *Timothy: Mom never saw me play soccer/football in Trinidad, but was responsible for washing and ironing my soccer uniform. The jersey was no problem but the pants (White) rain or sun we played in white pants. So after a rainy day and muddy field the pants is muddy. She would say "look how they kick you up" all because the pants was muddy and needed to be placed in the "bleach" to get it white again For the next game later in the week. Mom used to buy milk from a lady who delivered milk once a week. So mom did not want milk one day when the lady came. She told Harry to say mom is not home. Harry said to the lady "mom said to say she is not home" mom had to buy milk that day. When I was about ten years old mom used to make coffee every morning and serve me a small cup to wake me up. Hope these next verses can show the love for Our Mother, Our Friend, Our Confidante We love you mom... "Rest In Peace" Packing up the dreams God planted In the fertile soil of you Can't believe the hopes He's granted Means a chapter in your life is through But we'll keep you close as always It won't even seem you've gone 'Cause our hearts in big and small ways Will keep the love that keeps us strong And friends are friends forever If the Lord's the Lord of them And a friend will not say never 'Cause the welcome will not end Though it's hard to let you go In the Father's hands we know That a lifetime's not too long To live as friends With the faith and love God's given Springing from the hope we know We will pray the joy you'll live in Is the strength that now you show But we'll keep you close as always It won't even seem you've gone 'Cause our hearts in big and small ways Will keep the love that keeps us strong
