Faye Marie Pecht

Faye Marie Schindler Pecht, 89, passed away on July 1, 2016, at her home. Faye was born January 2, 1927, in Carmine, Texas, to Paul and Haidee (Klaerner) Schindler; third of their seven children. Faye was in High School when the family moved to Houston where she was graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. She met Sidney Pecht after moving to Houston and they were married August 11, 1945. Faye was always very creative and several family members have her paintings in their homes. For a few years she did wedding catering and baked and decorated the wedding cakes herself. Her grandchildren enjoyed the fanciful cakes she made for their birthdays. She also sewed clothes for her daughters including prom dresses and wedding gowns. Her attention to detail made all her creations very special. She liked working in the yard and having a nice landscape with blooming plants. She loved trips to Colorado and appreciated God’s creation wherever they traveled. Family meant a lot to Faye. Her servant heart was on display in her caring and interaction with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Over the years she also found ways to care for others outside the family. Faye was a very giving person. Faith in Jesus was a hallmark of Faye’s life. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and helped with the youth group at North Side Lutheran in Houston, while raising her family. She and Sidney sang in the choir there and she served in various roles in women’s groups and other ministries. Faye didn’t hesitate to share her faith with family and friends. After their move to Spring, Texas, they found a couple of new church homes before they joined Resurrection Lutheran where she participated in the Tuesday Morning Bible Study and was active in various ministries. Faye is survived by her three daughters: Leslie (and Ric) McMillian of Spring, TX, Janet Pecht of Tomball, TX, and Darlene (and Allen) Forshage of Athens, TX; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two siblings—Ruth Luker and Lynette Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Sidney Pecht; her parents, Paul and Haidee, and siblings Gladys Wilkerson, Paul Schindler, Jr., A.C. Schindler, and Helen Cochran. Faye will be greatly missed by her family who lovingly called her “Granny.” OTHERS Lord help me live from day to day In such a self-forgetful way That even when I kneel to pray My prayer shall be for others.
