Floyd Timothy Hicks

Tim, the middle child of Floyd and Earline Hicks was born on October 1, 1963 in East St. Louis, Illinois. He graduated from Nashville Community High School in 1981. Soon after his family relocated to Bowling Green, Kentucky. He graduated from Harding University with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in religious education, and a minor in Business Management. Tim married Rebecca Taylor on July 20, 1985. Their life adventure was blessed with two sons, Timothy Ryan and Benjamin Taylor. Tim loved camping, hiking, playing games, and hanging out with family. He loved his family with every part of himself. He was a loving father and devoted husband. Working with teens, children, and their families was Tim’s passion. He served as Youth and Family Minister for the West Side Church of Christ in Searcy and the Bentonville Church of Christ in Bentonville Arkansas. He transitioned into Children’s Ministry and served at the Glenwood Church of Christ in Tyler, Texas. Tim was currently serving as Director of Grace Crossing Academy Ministries, a ministry of the Grace Crossing Church of Christ in Conroe. Tim was a caring and dedicated minister for 36 years. He loved directing Bible Camp, Retreats, Mission trips, Vacation Bible Schools, and other activities that brought spiritual growth and joy to the kids he worked with. Tim’s passion for serving children in the community was apparent in his volunteering as Den Leader and Cub Master for both of his son’s groups. While living in Tyler, he also started a mentoring program at an elementary school and shared Bible lessons in the Boys and Girls Club after school program. Tim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Becky; his son Ryan (Denver, Colorado); and his son Ben (Little Rock, Arkansas). He is survived by his mom, Earline Hicks; a sister Darlene Brown; and a brother Keith Hicks from Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Hicks Jr. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Green Valley Bible Camp in Rogers, Arkansas or Christian Homes and Family Service in Tyler, Texas.
