Geraldine Bradshaw

Geraldine (Gerry) Lane Bradshaw,entered the gates of Heaven and went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, on September 4, 2015. She was born Oct. 28, 1931 in Midway, TX, moving to Houston in 1940. Her parents James Seth and Arna Mae Lane preceded her into Heaven. Her sister Shirley Mae Lacey and husband Glenn, her niece Kimberly Lacey Cardenas and her brother Gerald Wayne Lane, also preceded her. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband Allen B. Bradshaw. They shared 66 years of love and happiness together. She is also survived by her children; Son, James (Jimmy) Bradshaw and wife Kay; Daughters, Judy Bosworth and husband Robert; Joan Wolfe and husband David; Jan Velkovich and husband Larry. She leaves 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren who gave her a life of joy. Geraldine is also survived by her sisters, Imogene Robertson, Jo Ann Cole and husband Tom, brother Jerry Lee Lane, Sr. and wife Betty, also sister-in-law Elizabeth Lane Stone. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and a host of friends whom she cherished dearly. Geraldine was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church since Feb. 15, 1948. Here she met Allen and they were married June 3, 1949 just four days after she graduated from Aldine High School. Her happiest days were raising her four children in the way of the Lord. Her greatest joy was when they accepted Jesus as their Savior and as they continue to serve Him. She worked in PTA in the schools they attended. She was honored with a Lifetime Membership. When her children were almost out of school she went to work at Parkway Hospital in 1969. She later went to work as one of the first employees, and helped open Houston Northwest Hospital in 1973. She worked there until Dec. 1976 when she decided to stay home to enjoy her first grandchild, Jeremy Bradshaw. She later went to work at Southland Corp., where she worked for 10 years as Accounting Supervisor receiving many awards until she retired in 1987. Some of her favorite past times were making ceramics, oil painting, sewing, playing the piano, cooking, writing poetry, and organizing events. She even published a book telling about her life, family, and friends who had influenced her life. Gerry enjoyed working with the public, but nothing compared with the joy of being Grandma or MawMaw to her grandchildren and spending special times with each of them individually. She looked forward to celebrating special occasions with all her family together, making sure she served their favorite dishes. Geraldine was her happiest while she was serving her Lord at Memorial Baptist. She served on many committees and worked with many ages, but her greatest joy was serving as Senior Adult Director, since 1997. She especially received a blessing by printing a monthly newsletter “Opals” for the department each month. She enjoyed playing Dart Baseball and being in the Sunshine Club for members 55 or older. She said, “God richly blessed me with such a wonderful family and so many loving friends. I can never thank and praise Him enough.” Her prayer was for Jesus to use her life one day at a time and every day.
