Jason David Merksamer

Jason David Merksamer, age 32, left us way too soon on Halloween morning 2023, as the result of a cardiac arrest. Jason will not be lonely, with two grandparents, many close friends and his bestie Jubilee waiting for him in Heaven. Jason was born on January 9, 1991 in Bayshore, New York. He wanted to join us much too early and would have been here sooner if he could. We pleaded with him to wait a little longer and when he did arrive, he was actually a few days past his due date. When Jay was young, he enjoyed playing Pokemon cards, soccer and XBox. He spent a lot of time with his bestfriend Matthew, whom he did everything with, until Jay decided he wanted to play football and Matthew did not. Jay played football for a couple of years, until it became obvious that he wasn't as big as the competition and was better at spectating. It was about this time in 2006 that the family moved to Spring, Tx. The transition was challenging for Jay, but with the companionship of his girlfriend, April, he made the adjustment. Nothing lasts forever and following April, there were a number of lovely young women, until he met the love of his life, Kaelyn. Jason and Kaelyn married at Christmas time in 2015 and did their best to raise their two beautiful children together. Unfortunately, too many demons worked to separate them and eventually were too much. Even though they were separated geographically, Jason never stopped loving his family. Demons aside, Jay was a loyal friend who would do anything for you. He was a very generous man and would give you the shirt off of his back or the last dollar in his pocket. He enjoyed reading fiction, drawing and working on cars. Over the course of his life, Jay worked as a professional painter, AC operator and an auto technician with a state inspectors license. Just before leaving us, Jay completed a fiberoptics program and was looking forward to a possible future in communications. Ironically, his demons caught up with him on Halloween, and the dreams he had will remain unfinished. From those who love you, Jay, goodbye. No matter what, we always did and always will, love you. Jason leaves behind ex-wife, Kaelyn, and their children, Ember (10) and Jacob (7), parents Christina and Jerry Merksamer, older brother Mike and sister Caitlyn, grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jason is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Salvatore and Geraldine Taglient and paternal great grandparents.
