Marcella Badia

Heaven has just gained a beautiful soul. Marcella Madeline Badia, 86, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022. Marcella was born on March 11, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York to Italian/German parents, Joseph and Catherine Scavone. She was born a twin alongside her brother Randolph into a large family where she was known as “Tootsie”. After graduating high school and working as a telephone operator with her best friend, in 1956 Marcella married John James Badia, her husband of 35 years and had four children. Being a full time mother and wife was always the most important job for Marcella. In 1975, the Badia family moved to Texas and settled down in Houston. Marcella was an active person that loved the jobs she had, working in the elementary school cafeteria and working retail at Marshall’s and Ross. She truly put her heart into everything she did. With family always being first, she would change her schedule as her grandchildren were born, so she could care for them. Marcella could cook! She enjoyed cooking along with gardening and an occasional trip to the casino or the horse races. Marcella had a big, beautiful and nurturing heart. Her family and friends knew that they could always count on her for support. Marcella is survived by three of her children, John Jr. Badia, James Badia, and Michelle Badia Baylis and husband, Greg; son in law, Terry Moore; her grandchildren, Jason Faulkner, Travis Faulkner, Andrew Weise, Dillon Moore, Addison Baylis, Isabella Badia, Peyton Badia, Cameron Baylis, and Kayla Baylis; her great grandson Kingsley Moore; and her younger sister Geraldine Fleites. Marcella was preceded in death by her loving husband John J. Badia, and her beautiful daughter Diane Moore, who was taken too soon; her parents Joseph and Catherine Scavone; and her brothers, Joseph Scavone Jr., Tony Scavone, Malvin Scavone, Randolph Scavone, and Warren Scavone. Marcella’s final resting place will be with her husband John Badia at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX, where he awaits her. Marcella will be deeply missed in this life by all of her friends and family. May her memories live on forever. Until we meet again.
