Marcena Rae Vogelsang

Marcena Rae Vogelsang, 81, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Houston, TX on September 17, 1944 to Octavia Mae Stephens and William Wash Stephens. She was the only daughter and grew up with 3 brothers. Marcena graduated from Sam Houston High School and spent most of her years in Houston. She was a young single mother of two in the early days who worked up to 3 jobs to support her family. In 1977, she met and married Daniel James Vogelsang which began a 48 year love story. Marcena worked in administration and accounting throughout her adulthood. She was proud to have retired from King Ranch's corporate office where she was an accountant for several years. She was also a Mary Kay consultant for many years and more than once. She believed in the products! She never earned a pink cadillac but she worked really really hard. Most people also know Marcena by the ceramics she made over the years. She loved her Tuesday trips to the ceramic shop. It was her therapy and her time to socialize. For Marcena, her greatest love was not only being a wonderful wife who takes full credit for keeping her husband alive all of these years and the best mom but also being a Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Marcena is reunited with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. W. W. Stephens, her oldest brother, David Elmore, and her 2nd oldest brother, Jeffrey L. Stephens. She is survived by her husband, Daniel J. Vogelsang, her brother and sister in law, Jon and Mary Stephens, her sister in law, Janet Hall, her son and daughter in law, Donald Ray Preece & Amanda Casey, her daughter, Stephanie Rae Goldsmith, son and son in law, David A. Vogelsang and Pedro Matos, daughter and son in law, Carole Vogelsang and Darrin Floyes, daughter and son in law, Kim and Jimmy King. Grandchildren, Tyler and Amy Floyes, Trey King and Destany Johnson, Trinity Goldsmith and Brandon Gump. Great Grandchildren, Maverick Grace Floyes, Mackynzie Kaye Floyes, Kaiden Johnson, Wren Oakley Gump and Baby Boy King on the way. And all of her brother in laws and sister in laws on The Vogelsang side and all of her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Marcena was loved greatly and will be missed so much. We hope you can join us for her Celebration of Life. We will have a small reception following the Memorial Service at Addison Funeral Home.
