Margaret Ann Nestel

Margaret Ann (Peggy) Nestel was born Nov 26, 1937 in Bennington, Vermont to Grace Elsie (Kennison) and Charles Earle Elder. Her family eventually settled in East Brookfield, Massachusetts, where Charles ran a diner with his family. Peggy was a proud graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA, and she received an associate degree in Fashion Merchandising from Lasell Junior College in Newton, MA. After graduation she took a job in New York City as a reservationist for Eastern Airlines, and soon after she became a flight attendant based in Miami. In August 1959 Peggy married Walter Carol Pounds in Miami. To this union was born one son, Jeffrey Allan Pounds. Peggy and Wally were divorced in 1965. Peggy became a reservationist again, and on 3 July 1970 she married Thomas Leslie (Les) Nestel in Miami. Soon the family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Peggy handled reservations at the Eastern Executive Desk. She continued working for Eastern until they went out of business in 1991. After that, she worked as a travel planner for Duke Energy and a casino junket hostess for Pair-A-Dice Travel in Charlotte until her retirement. In 2015 Peggy moved to The Woodlands, TX, to be close to family. She died there Feb 15, 2021. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jean Moreau, of East Brookfield, MA. She is survived by her son and his wife, Jeff and Stephanie Pounds, Spring, TX; grandson and his wife, Alex M. and Ashley Pounds, and great-grandsons, Carter D and Bennett M Pounds, Spring, TX; grandson and his wife, Brian K and Holly Pounds, and great-granddaughter, Wallis, of Hutto, Texas; and many loving nieces and nephews.
