Mark Uppencamp

Mark Ammon Uppencamp, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 27, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 60. He fought a long fight with lung cancer and out lived what the doctors predicted by three years! Born on May 27, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas, Mark lived a full and passionate life defined by his love for people, family, and community. Mark was known to be outgoing even as a small child. He would talk to everyone. Mark made friends everywhere he went. He was known for his strong work ethic and never afraid to get his hands dirty. Mark was a sports fanatic, especially when it came to football, baseball, basketball and motorsports. A true Houston hometown fan, he rooted fervently for the Texans, Rockets, and Astros. Mark was blessed to find the love of his life, Maggie. Mark adored his loving wife, Margaret "Maggie" Ameen. Mark and Maggie were best friends and soulmates for over 40 years, sharing countless adventures, joys, and memories together. He was a devoted father to his sons, Daniel (husband Spencer), Joey (wife Paola and granddaughter Sofy), and a caring son to his Mom, Virginia and Mother-In-Law Donna LaFreniere, and of course “the fun” brother to Rachel, Marcia, Aaron, and Sarah, and Uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Virginia Uppencamp, his brothers, Samuel and Michael Andrew and his father-in-law Donald E Ameen. Mark had a deep appreciation for the outdoors—he loved hunting, camping, and fishing, and was a master on the grill. Whether cooking steaks, ribs, pork belly, or hosting legendary fish fries and shrimp boils, Mark found joy in feeding others and spending quality time with friends and family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All who knew and loved Mark are welcome to attend and share in honoring his memory. Dress is outside casual. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a cause close to your heart, in remembrance of Mark's generous spirit. Mark's warmth, humor, and love will be remembered always. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
