Mayrene McDaniel

Mayrene Jean (Dossman) McDaniel, went to be with her heavenly Father on October 23, 2022, at the age of 81, where she has now been joyously reunited with her parents August and Hilda Dossman, her brother Kenneth Dossman, and twin sister Lorene (Dossman) Denby. Mayrene was born on August 6, 1941, along with her twin sister, Lorene in the city of Hempstead, Texas. She was raised in the Rosehill community of Tomball, Texas on her family’s farm. A descendant of German Immigrants, Mayrene grew up speaking German and English and attended the Salem Lutheran School of Tomball, Texas from the 1st to 8th grade. She then went on to attend and graduate from Tomball High School. Mayrene met the love of her life, Gayhyardt “Ted” McDaniel who was from Baytown, Texas when set up for a date by her twin sister and her boyfriend Don Denby. Ted and Don were close friends and served in the Navy together. At first, Mayrene said “no way” to Ted but eventually fell in love, and Lorene and Mayrene had a beautiful double wedding at Salem Lutheran Church in 1962. Mayrene and Ted started their family living in Tomball, Texas where their children Kevin and Kendra were born, and then moved to Galena Park, Texas. A couple of years later, after learning they would have a third child Karmen, they traveled back to Tomball, Texas as they wanted their beloved family doctor, Dr. Graham to deliver. Mayrene always had in her heart to move back to her hometown and eventually, she and Ted found their way back to the Tomball/Rosehill area in 1977. Mayrene did secretarial work for oil and gas companies early on in her career but later took some time off to raise her three children, cheering them on at all their events. Later on, she made her way back into the workforce and even worked for Ted at his insurance business for many years before they both retired. Her faith in God and unconditional love for family and friends always shined through her sweet personality daily. If the church doors were open, you could bet she would be there. Mayrene served in various ministries at Salem Lutheran Church singing in the choir, serving on the altar guild and on the historical archive committee as she was part of the multi-generational members of the church. Hobbies Mayrene enjoyed throughout her life included piano, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, and spoiling her children and grandchildren as often as she could. Most importantly, she covered all of her children in prayer every night before she went to sleep. We never doubted her love for Jesus and we take comfort in knowing we will see her again! Mayrene is survived by her husband Ted McDaniel of 60 years, son Kevin McDaniel and wife Cindy; daughter Kendra Hallmark and husband Byron; son Karmen McDaniel and wife Sandra; grandchildren, Nathan McDaniel, Colby McDaniel and wife Kourtney; Kyle Hallmark, Aaron Hallmark and wife Allison; Katelyn McDaniel and Brooke McDaniel. Also survived by great-grandchildren Abby McDaniel, Jaxon Maestas, Kynslee Hallmark, Andi Hallmark, Rowan McDaniel, Kora McDaniel, and Ava Hallmark. In addition, many nieces, nephews, loved ones, and family and friends whom she loved dearly survive her. Mayrene was a true blessing and gift from the Lord and will be dearly missed but will live on in the legacy of her children.
