Michael 'Mickey' Lee Neel

Michael 'Mickey' Neel, 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his family in Spring, Texas on February 25, 2024. Born in Muncie, Indiana, on September 16, 1951. Mickey was a beacon of kindness and joy to all who knew him. Mickey's life was a testament to the love he had for his family and the simple pleasures in life. A devoted father to Michael Joshua and Jeremy Lee Neel, he spent much of the last fifteen years living with his son Michael, daughter-in-law Amy, and being a pivotal part of their lives, especially when it came to helping with his beloved granddaughters, Taya and Tessa Neel, now 16 and 14. He loved being an involved grandparent. He hung every single hand drawn picture and coloring page on his bedroom wall proudly. He was overjoyed to welcome his first and only grandson, Jax Neel, 2, along with his daughter in law, Leti, and step-granddaughter, Sophie, 8, into his life with open arms. Mickey lived a full life that spanned many states. He spent time living in Indiana, California, Michigan, Georgia, Florida and Texas. Mickey's legacy includes his unforgettable moments playing sports with his sons and their friends in Lakeland, Florida. He cherished early morning cuddles, cartoons and morning walks for donuts with Taya and Tessa in Humble, Texas. Who could forget his vibrant smile while he was dancing the night away at the local country bars with his friends and family. He had an innate ability to connect with animals that reflected the gentleness of his soul, often finding himself surrounded by pets who adored him just as much as he did them. When he passed, he had the comfort of a family pet by his side. In his final days, Mickey was enveloped in laughter and cherished memories with his eldest son, Michael, daughter-in-law Amy, granddaughters Taya and Tessa, and the family's grand dogs, embodying the spirit of love and togetherness that he fostered throughout his life. Mickey is preceded in death by his mother, Paula, his stepfather, Dick and his brother Dean Neel. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his sons, Michael Joshua and Jeremy Lee; daughter-in-laws, Amy and Leti; grandchildren, Taya, Tessa, Jax, and Sophie; his brothers, Myron Robbins, and sisters, Winnie Beezley, Connie Thornton, Shirley Rodger; countless friends including Will and Johnette Helton; and his beloved grand dogs. A visitation service for family and friends will be held at Addison Funeral Home in Spring, TX on Thursday February 2/29/2024 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. A celebration of Mickey's life will be scheduled at his home in the coming weeks. The family welcomes all who knew Mickey to join in honoring his memory.
