Sharon C Roy

Sharon Cabbell Roy was born February 4, 1942, in Randolph Field Station, San Antonio, TX and passed away on November 5, 2022, at Spring Creek Village, a Memory Care facility, in Houston, TX. She attended elementary and junior high school in San Antonio before moving to Houston and completing high school at John H. Regan Senior High School, class of 1958. After high school, she spent 35 years in the commercial insurance business in Houston, San Antonio, Marble Falls, and Fredericksburg, TX. She was both a Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) & Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR). Outside of her professional life, her life-long love was being a lifetime member of the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) for 40+ years where she was known as “Too Tall Chili”. She cooked, entertained, judged, and held leadership positions with some of her closest friends in several CASI Pods in several cities in Texas. There are too many cook-offs she participated in to mention here, but some of her favorites were Howdy Roo in Marble Falls, Chilympiad in San Marcos, and several international contests; however, her favorite was the CASI championship in Terlingua, Texas. She also enjoyed traveling, doing arts-and-crafts, and antiquing. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Opal Talley, RN of Nixon, TX and her father Bennie Harry Cabbell who was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and served in the US Army in WWII, as well as her grandson Taylor Byron Roy. She is survived by her children, Brian N. Roy, Jr (Lori) and Kenneth A. Roy; grandchildren: Stephanie Roy Wyatt (Wes), Alison Roy Braune (Dustin), Meagan Roy Miller (Patrick), Jordan Lubinski (Taylor) and Madison Hemann; and great-grandchildren: Jersey, Kenadie, Faith, Lucy, and Winnie. Our mom was very independent and did not like to live where she was dependent on someone to help her. I would like to thank the professional staff at Paradise Springs and Spring Creek Village for the care and attention they gave to our mom for the past four years – as one of them said – “she was a handful!”.
