Thomas Abraham Garcia

Thomas Abraham Garcia, beloved son, brother, and grandson, passed away and entered into God’s presence on July 21, 2015. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 20, 1994 to Orlando J. and Deborah G. (Torres) Garcia. Thomas attended Galveston Catholic School, St. Edward Catholic School, St. Pius X High School, and Klein Collins High School. He graduated from Klein Collins High School in 2013. Thomas participated in cub scouts, baseball, soccer, and tennis throughout his school years. He excelled at tennis and was on the varsity tennis teams at St. Edward’s, St. Pius X, and Klein Collins High School. He competed in ZAT and CMZ tennis through the United States Tennis Association. He also played at Giammalva Racquet Club for nine years. He loved the club and was employed as a summer camp counselor. Thomas excelled academically and received numerous awards from every school he attended. He was on Honor Roll and was a member of National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society. Thomas participated in the Duke University Talent Identification Program and took the SAT college entrance exam while in 7th grade. He received an award for a high score at Lamar University. Thomas was awarded scholarships to several Universities and Community Colleges. He chose to attend Austin Community College and Lone Star Community College. He was accepted to The University of Houston College of Engineering Technology for the Fall semester. A compassionate and caring person, Thomas volunteered for Habitat For Humanity in Harris County and for the Son-Rise Program in Austin, Texas. He unfailingly put the needs of others before his own. Above all, Thomas loved spending time with his family and friends. Memorable times include yearly family ski trips to Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico, family vacations to beaches in Mexico, Florida, and Grand Cayman, trips to Disney World with family, camping and fishing with his family, visiting his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all over Texas and Louisiana, and many trips with dear friends. Thomas cherished and was cherished by his entire family. His smile was beautiful and brilliant and lit up every room he entered. He was the most loving brother to Juliet and Vincent and they will miss him terribly. He made every gathering fun and special. He had a good sense of humor and had the ability to make everyone laugh. He was polite and respectful and had kind words and compliments for everyone he encountered. He found the good in everyone and everything. Thomas is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Orlando (Deborah) Garcia, his sister Juliet, his brother Vincent, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Abraham (Adela) Moreno, and grandmother Mrs. Estela Garcia. He is also survived by his aunts Corina T. Lopez and Tricia (Kyle) Sonnier, uncles Albert (Janice) Garcia, Joel (Lupita) Garcia, and David Garcia. He leaves behind his cousins Mercedes, Dulce, and Michael Jones, Michael, Celeste, and Aubrey Garcia, Laura, Russ, and Benjamin Sonnier, Andres and Ximena Garcia, Systine and Noah Garcia, and Elizabeth and Kevin Dean. He is also survived by his great-aunt Bea Ceja and cousins Emma Jean, Jimmy (Mary), and Chase Ceja. Thomas is preceded in death by his grandfather Delfino P. Garcia, his cousin Kirby Dean Anderson, and his great-aunt Rosie Moreno. Thomas is survived by many close relatives and friends, too numerous to count, young and old. They would also like to acknowledge special friends: Ashley Fielder, Ricardo Noyola, Max Svetlik, Chris Barragan, Hamad Afzal, Diana DiMeglio and Connor Bereck. The Garcia family is grateful to our neighbors in Spring, St. Edward Catholic Church and School Community, Sammy Giammalva, Ana Newton, and the staff of Giammalva Racquet Club, Mrs. Jennifer Reed Bull, and Mrs. Martha M. Delgado. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Addison Funeral Home in Spring, Texas on Monday, July 27, 2015. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Spring, Texas, Rev. Christian Bui presiding.
