Vicente Sia Alcera Jr.

In the gloomy afternoon of the 5th of January 2017, Vicente Sia Alcera, Jr, 62, embarked on his journey home to be with our Creator in everlasting life. He passed away peacefully at home, after losing his battle to Pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Erlinda Tamayo Alcera and their son Juan Paulo. His mother, Gloria Sia Alcera. His siblings, Richard Alcera, Diana Alcera-Schilling, Jocelyn Alcera-Nazario, Florabelle Alcera-Samson, and Gil Anthony Alcera, along with their spouses, children and grandchildren. Born on November 27, 1954, he grew up in the city of Zamboanga, moved to the capital city of Manila, and eventually moved to the city of Houston in Texas. He is an alumni of Ateneo High school 1971 and a zealous member of APO-Alpha Theta at Lyceum of the Philippines, Manila, APO-Alpha Theta Alumni Association, APO-AA Metropolitan Houston. Vicente, or preferably known to many as Jun, was and will always be loved by many. To his wife, he was truly devoted. He always made sure that she knew he loved her profoundly, in his own little ways. Be it through simple gestures such as little love notes, or postcards from places he visited. A partner and companion for life indeed. To his son, he was unconditional and dutiful. He was unceasingly there for him, through thick or thin, the good and the bad. He was supportive of every decision he made, whether it was right or wrong. He was there to catch him when he falls, and guiding him through the right path as any father’s duty is. To his mother, he was the loving son, always there for her in all ways possible, be it looking out for her welfare or just keeping her company in simple ways. To his siblings, he was the shoulder to lean on, the advisor in times of uncertainty, the fortress and strength through trying times, and the one to share the joys and accomplishments with. To his nephews and nieces, he was their confidant. He was the other dad, the one whom everyone looked up to. To his cousins and friends, he was their brother. He loved and cared for them dearly as he would have his own siblings. His passing has left a void in everyone’s hearts and he is sorely missed, but we take comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that the heavens has called another angel back home to spend everlasting life with our Lord and Saviour.
