William Anton Bruha

William Anton Bruha – Obituary 11/23/21 Spring, Texas William (Bill) Anton Bruha (Spring, Texas) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. He was born July 21, 1930 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Mabel and Charles Bruha. Bill graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse in 1948. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Michigan School of Mining and Technology in Houghton, Michigan where he was a member of the Sigma Rho Fraternity and Blue Key Honor Society and received his degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston. Bill enlisted in the United States Army in 1949 and stationed at Fort Sill Military Base where he served in the infantry until his honorable discharge in 1953. Bill enjoyed a successful career in the oil and gas industry where he held executive positions at Shell Oil Company and Transco Exploration. Upon retirement, he established and operated his own consulting company, Energy International. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the International Association of Drilling Contractors. He was a longtime member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and attended many regional and national events during his life. Bill was an Eagle Scout with Palms and a faithful member of Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church. He and his wife shared many interests and loved to travel together where they were fortunate to visit many different parts of the world. They also spent and enjoyed wonderful times with their children and their many dear friends. Bill loved being with his family, snow skiing, golfing, reading, hunting, gardening, repairing his clocks, attending local antique auctions, caring for his animals and a good meal and laugh. He was a Scoutmaster and Leader and lived his life by the principals of the Scout Oath and Law. Bill was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the patriarch of his family and deeply loved by all of them. Bill married Joanne Kochinski on August 16, 1952 and they shared 66 wonderful years together. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Charles Bruha, wife, Joanne, in-laws Ruth (Newlin) and Ted Kochinski, daughter, Wendy Jackson and granddaughter, Amanda Alford. He is survived by his children, Linda Alford, Cathy Crowther and husband Chuck, Scott Bruha and wife Patty, Nancy Collins and husband Ron, Heidi Carney and husband Steve and Gregg Bruha and wife Laura. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, William (Bill) Jackson, Becky Flechsig, Jeremy Alford, Christopher Alford, Michael Crowther, Ryan Crowther, William (Will) Bruha, Matthew Collins, Andrew Collins, Brian Carney, Meagan Carney and Patrick Bruha and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Thomas Bruha and wife Geri, sisters, Judith Murphy and Ruth Mettner, sister-in-law Madge Burbach and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bill’s family extends a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Methodist Hospital, The Auberge at The Woodlands, Grace Homestead and Amedisys Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church at 7810 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, Texas 77379, the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice. No services are currently being held through Addison Funeral Home.
