Donald Leon Crawford

August 25, 1958 - May 8, 2022

Donald Leon Crawford II left us early in the morning on Sunday, the 8th of May, 2022. He was a hardworking man, who took joy in his family. He was born on August 25th, 1958, to Betty and Leon Crawford in Seminole, Oklahoma. He spent his early years in Eastern Oklahoma before moving to Mooreland, in northwestern Oklahoma. He excelled in school, graduating from Mooreland High in 1976. Donald married Janet Haller in 1977. They lived in Woodward, Oklahoma , for a few years before moving to Oklahoma City. He attended the University of Oklahoma and began working for Welex. His aptitude and desire for new experiences inspired him to accept a Welex posting in the Netherlands. He worked on offshore platforms in the North Sea, and began his lifelong passion for international travel, taking extended business trips to Russia, China, Gabon, and many other nations. Our family lived in Leiden and then in Julianadorp. Later, back in the States, he spent time living in Louisiana before moving to Texas. His last residence was at Spring, Texas, where he died. Without ever completing his formal studies, he was a successful engineer in the petroleum services field. He was granted several patents for a variety of innovative wireline, logging and perforating technologies. He spent his entire career working for Halliburton or one of its subsidiaries. This would have been his 45th year at the company. He loved his work, and forged many enduring friendships with his colleagues. He was a gentle, kind man who loved his family. He enjoyed traveling, and relished the opportunities his work afforded him to see many different parts of the world. Spending a summer in Galveston with his children and grandchildren delighted him. His interests and hobbies were broad and diverse: his was a restless mind, always learning something new, always figuring something out. He leaves behind a large family. His wife Janet; His children Don, Jesse, and Chadwick.;His grandchildren Hank, Cassidy, Emily, Campbell, and Leonie. His son-in-law James Strickler, and his daughter-in-law Meredith Crawford.
