August 3, 1988 - September 12, 2021
Jorge A. Rodela, known by many as J-RO, passed away September 12, 2021, in Houston, Texas. He was 33 years young and lived an amazing life full of joy and passion. He leaves behind his loving family: wife, Samantha, and their two children, Monica and Aaron; mother, Armandina; brother, Cesar, sister-in-law, Yesenia, and their three children; brother, Carlos, sister-in-law, Lorena, and their four children; and sister-in-law, Micale, and her two children. He will be greeted in heaven by his father, brother, grandparents, and cousins. Born and raised a Houstonian, Jorge was passionate about his family, his friends, his city, and sports – particularly the Astros and Packers. He married his 'first girlfriend', as his brothers like to tease. He also was devoted to instilling a love of sports in both his children. As a supportive father, he could be seen in the yard practicing softball or baseball with Monica and Aaron, or on the field making sure his kids did their best, just as he had done. Jorge enjoyed telling everyone how he was the best player at Doss Park and would often get his mom to confirm this fact by bringing out all his trophies. Jorge loved to show-off just how hard he played “back in the day” by bending down and letting you hear his knees crack! J-RO made an impression wherever he went and was like no other person you will ever meet. He often came with a “warning” before meeting new people: Jorge has an opinion about every subject and will debate you immediately! However, one of his greatest talents was diffusing any awkward situation with a joke or comment to make those around him laugh and have a good time. He could “grill and chill” with the best of them and never missed an opportunity to hang out.
