Reuben Mushtaq Luna

August 28, 2002 - August 21, 2021

Reuben Luna passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, after a brief and hard battle against COVID-19. He was 18 years old. Reuben was born on August 28, 2002, in Angleton, TX. He is survived by his Parents, Mushtaq and Zoila, his aunts, Beatrice, Lina, Patricia and Eva, his uncle, Pablo, and his many cousins, too many to count, but closest to him like siblings, Anthony, Ella and Lola. And by His Grandfather, Evaristo Luna. Reuben had so much compassion and love for life. He was kind and pure and had an enormous amount of Love. His passion was art and music, but most of all he loved Youtube videos and his PS4. He had a heart of Gold, and we know in our hearts he is in Heaven watching over us now and living his best after life. We will always love you, Reuben. Unable are the loved to die, for Love is immortality- Emily Dickinson. Reuben Luna, who was he, you may ask? Well, I will tell you. Reuben was a best friend, a dedicated and loyal family member and most of all he was Love. Not just your plain everyday Love, but true unconditional, passionate, and pure Love. Reuben was 18 years old when Covid took his life. He was so young, so ambitious, and so very amazing. He had a passion for life that most would only dream of. Reuben loved art. From an early age, he would put pencil to paper and create. He was inspiring. He took every art class he could, and even while at home there were dozens of notepads and scraps of paper from doodles to deep and passionate sketches laying all around. He never stopped trying to express himself in ways he knew he could. For those of you who knew him, Reuben had intellectual disabilities, and those that really knew him, knew he did not for a moment let that stop him from accomplishing so much in his short-lived life. Reuben was so many things, he was a swimmer in the Special Olympics (coming home with some 1st place trophies), he was part of a Challengers Baseball team in Bay City (Go Bulldogs!), a volunteered at every event he could go to, was an amazing cook, and I’ve got to say, he was also one heck of an accomplished fisherman. Reuben lived a life full of love and support, surrounded by family and friends, who will miss him deeply. Most of all me, his mom. Reuben was not only the best son a mother could ask for, but he was also my very best friend. I used to tell him time and time again, “Reuben, it’s Me and You against the world “. Never in a million years would I have thought that there would come a time I would not have him with me. Reuben could light up a room with just with his smile, his hugs and the love he had. I could not have asked for a more loving and devoted son. He spoiled me. I was truly blessed to be his mother. There will be a huge part of me that will be broken that was filled with time spent with him. I will not watch him grow old, get his first job, meet his first girlfriend, or see if he himself would become a father. I will only wait. Wait for the day I get to see him again. Wait for the moment that my heart will unbreak and I can hold him in my arms again. Reuben is not someone you could just simply forget. He leaves a tremendous hole in this world that cannot be filled, because like I said before, Reuben was a once in a lifetime love, a blessing for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. I love you Son. Until we meet again. Love Mom.
