Shirley Ann Pittman, 72, of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Luke's Vintage Hospital from complications of the Covid-19 virus. Shirley was born on June 26, 1949 to Mary Lonsdale and Charles Hamilton at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas. She attende3d Jesse H. Jones High School and later received her G.E.D. She was known to close family and friends affectionately as "Sue." During her career, she had been employed by Gulf Oil Co. and Amerada Hess Oil Co. as a draftsman, bookmaker and secretary. In later years, she was employed by Aldine School District as a general office clerk and teacher's assistant in several schools. Her hobbies included movies (musicals being her favorite genre), she loved the classics, pop and opera music, collecting stamps and had an extensive knowledge of the British Royal family. She also had a love and extensive knowledge of archaeology and paleontology. Shirley supported different animal and police organizations, and was a lover of all animals, especially cats. She expressed her love of animals by writing children's short stories. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael J. Pittman of Houston, Texas; sisters Cindy Hamilton, Kathy Ferguson and husband Larry of New Caney, Texas; nephew Kevin Ferguson and wife Roya of New Caney, Texas; mother-in-law Barbara Lovell of Houston, Texas and sister-in-law Laura Pittman of Sealy, Texas. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lonsdale who passed away in September 2006 and her father, Charles Hamilton who passed away in October 2006.
