Adrianus Kusuma

Adrianus Michael Kusuma, 33, a beloved son of his parents, a loving and much-loved brother of his sibling, an adored nephew of his uncles and aunts, the “leader of the pack” to his cousins, and a doting uncle of his nephew, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Adri, or Mike as he was known by his peers, was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 27, 1982. He migrated to the US in 2000 to attend the State University of New York at Geneseo. Following an employment at Mercedes Benz, he decided to continue his studies and obtained an MBA degree from The University of Southern Maine. However, through the years, he discovered that his passion was cuisine and food, so he went on to attend the Southern Maine Community College for another degree in Culinary Arts. Through school, Mike worked in the hospitality and food industry, working his way up to a General Manager position. He was also a big part of the bed and breakfast in Maine which was owned by one of his uncles. The years of training and experience finally brought him to Spring, Texas, where he helped launch and manage the breakfast and lunch restaurant, Sunny Side Of The Street. In addition to cooking, Mike naturally loved eating good food. His philosophy was “there is always room for ice cream and mango pudding”. Mike also loved everything Disney. His happiest place on earth was indeed the “happiest place on earth” and, whenever he could, he would always take the opportunity to visit Disneyworld and Disneyland. Even his favorite word came from a Disney movie, “Ohana”, which means “Family”. Mike was also a blue belt holder in the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu martial art, having competed and won medals in several competitions. He was also an avid fan of the Broncos. He would wear his Broncos jersey watching every single Broncos game on TV. Mike is survived by his parents, Vincent and Rosida of Jakarta, Indonesia, his brother Sebastian of Spring, his paternal grandfather, Dominicus Kusuma of Jakarta and his maternal grandmother, Tjitra Widjaja of Jakarta. He also leaves behind several uncles and aunts, cousins, a nephew, who all love him very much, and many friends, both personal and professional.
