Alisa Henley Sansom

Alisa Henley Sansom, a woman whose warmth could light up a room and whose heart overflowed with love and generosity, left us far too soon. Born on March 5, 1961, in Huntsville, Texas, to Annette and Wilmer Morgan, Alisa's life was a testament to resilience, selflessness, and the immeasurable impact of a kind spirit. She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her husband of 21 years, Dr. E. Steve Sansom, who adored her unwavering support and sharp sense of humor; her beloved mother, Annette Marlin Dunne; her children, Morgan Elizabeth and her husband, James Morgan Reagan, and Daniel Henley and his fiancée, Adrian Quintana; her sister, Michelle and her husband Greg Brown; and, above all, her pride and joy—her grandchildren Henley, Breck, and Colbie Reagan. Alisa's love extended deeply to her stepfamily, including her stepchildren, Geoffrey C. Sansom and his wife Lisa; Kate and her husband Tim Fransioli; and step-grandchildren Caroline, Jill, Saxon, Revan, Brian, Brandon, Mila, Remie, and Rorie. Alisa's life was full of purpose, beginning with her academic achievements at the University of Texas, where she graduated at the top of her class in 1994. However, her most profound contributions came through her 30 years as a registered nurse. During her years at Tomball Regional and the last 16 years at St. Luke's, she mentored many nurses. Alisa wasn't just a nurse—she was a healer, a mentor, and a steadfast friend to colleagues who often became part of her extended family. Her favorite place in the hospital was the Butterfly Garden—a fitting symbol for someone whose presence brought transformation and solace. She had an uncanny ability to comfort those in their most vulnerable moments, offering medical care, a listening ear, a warm smile, and an unshakable calm. Outside of work, Alisa found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her "pet" raccoons, lovingly fed with her characteristic tenderness, were a quirky extension of her nurturing nature. She cultivated beauty in her garden and peace on long, thoughtful walks. Red wine blends were her quiet indulgence, a small counterpoint to her boundless giving. Alisa's most cherished time of the year was Christmas—a season that perfectly mirrored her generous heart. Every holiday, she outdid herself, showering loved ones with gifts and orchestrating trips to Christmas wonderlands. Her joy was contagious, and her love made every celebration unforgettable. Alisa was a source of comfort and strength for those who needed her, with a sharp resolve when the moment called for it and an unyielding loyalty to her loved ones. However, she was never one to mask her feelings when confronted with arrogance—or, even more challenging, arrogance mixed with ignorance. Her expressions often said what she didn't need to. In her final minutes, the doctors and nurses of St. Luke's East and West wings employed the very same skills and compassion Alisa had spent years teaching and exemplifying. Though their heroic efforts could not save her, we are deeply grateful for the care and determination they showed. Alisa's legacy of selflessness and expertise was reflected in every moment of their work, a testament to her profound impact on those around her. Alisa's family expresses deep gratitude for their efforts. Though our hearts ache with her passing, we find solace in the countless memories of her laughter, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Alisa Henley Sansom was a woman who loved fiercely and lived fully, leaving an indelible mark on every life she touched. Rest easy, Alisa, in a garden of butterflies and endless red blends.
