Bobby Murphy

Bobby Spencer Murphy, 69, of Klein, passed away on January 17, 2024. Bob was born on March 18, 1954 to Leo L Murphy and Myrtle N Long, in Johnson City, Tennessee. Growing up the son of a decorated Green Beret, Bob lived in several countries before the family settled in Colonial Heights, Virginia. It was there he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and met the love of his life, Crystal E Elmore. Bob followed in his dad’s footsteps, joining the United States Army. Being a Veteran was always a source of great pride for him. After Crystal’s job with Texaco moved the couple to Houston, Bob’s career centered around the AC/HVAC industry; from working management for national chains, to teaching the subject at MacArthur High School and Lone Star College. Bob loved all of his students deeply, fostering lifetime relationships with several of them to this day. Most of his students came from broken homes or families less fortunate, and he was determined to help them any way he could, from hiring them in his AC business, to paying them as helpers when he deejayed dances at the local churches. Bob’s passion, other than his lovely bride Crystal, was listening to all kinds of music. Indeed, he grew an extensive and impressive music collection. You would often find him in his ‘music room,’ creating CDs for family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, father Leo Murphy, mother and stepdad Myrtle & Kenneth Jackson, and his little brother Mark Murphy. He is survived by his wife Crystal, daughter Rebecca Gardiner (Timmithy) of Sour Lake TX, son Matthew Murphy (Debbie) of Tomball TX, son Aaron Murphy of Houston TX and son Jared Murphy of Klein TX, brother Johnnie Murphy (Valerie) of Spring TX and step siblings Terry Karen Murphy, Iron Mike Murphy, and Rocky Murphy all from California. He has ten grandchildren: Ryan Powell, Madison Gardiner, Kylie Gardiner, Logan Gardiner, Anthony Murphy, Wyatt Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Isaiah Murphy, Aislinn Murphy, and Elias Murphy. A memorial service is to be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Spring TX. and interment will be at the Houston Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
