Her life was filled with connection, generosity, laughter, and an unmistakable presence that made others feel welcomed, supported, and loved. Gretchen was the true partner of Derek Kannarr—the rock and right arm of her husband in every sense. She stood beside him with unwavering strength, care, and devotion, offering steady support and boundless love. Their partnership was one built on trust, humor, and deep companionship. She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Marie Roberts Friend; her sister, Candace Friend Telesca; her brother, Karl Friend; and Anthony Telesca, a brother in every sense except blood, as well as Neice and Nephews Frank Telesca, Julianna Telesca and Ryan Gardea. She was preceded in death by her father, Ras Friend. Gretchen was an incredible friend—loyal, thoughtful, and generous to all who knew her. She had a gift for making people feel special and cared for, and her friendships were deep, genuine, and lasting. She delighted in the things that brought her joy: traveling and discovering new cities, her Audi, cooking, and her unmistakable love for beautiful purses, jewelry, and shoes. These weren’t just interests—they were expressions of her personality and joy for living fully. A devoted animal lover later in life, Gretchen was a proud and loving fur mom to Kiley and Beans. She also held lifelong affection for her first cats, Johan, Magic, and Zoe, who remained close to her heart throughout her life. Holidays held a special place in Gretchen’s heart, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved the traditions, the togetherness, and the warmth of family and friends gathered around her—moments that reflected everything she valued most. Gretchen’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, strength, and love. She leaves behind countless memories, laughter shared, trips taken, friendships cherished, and lives made better simply by knowing her. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever celebrated.
