Helen Joyce Powell

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Joyce Powell (nee Musick), a resident of Spring, Texas, who peacefully departed after an extended illness on April 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on November 25, 1933 to the late Jewel and Pluma Musick, Helen's life was marked by integrity, dedication, and unwavering love for her family. Helen's formative years were spent in Port Acres, Texas, where she cultivated cherished memories alongside her family. She pursued her education at Stephen F. Austin High School and later Lamar University, laying the foundation for a successful career path. Throughout her professional journey, she served diligently in various capacities, notably contributing her expertise to esteemed entities such as Gulf States Utilities and Texaco. Her tenure culminated in her retirement from Texaco, where she held the esteemed position of Manager of Human Resources. A devout member of Spring Baptist Church, Helen found solace and purpose in her faith. Her devotion extended beyond the church walls to encompass her role as a dedicated mother to her beloved son and family. Helen's selflessness knew no bounds, as evidence by her tireless efforts to support her son's educational pursuits at Texas A&M University. She derived immense joy from nurturing familial bonds and relished every moment spent with her cherished grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald Weaver Powell, a well as her siblings Irene Philyaw, Doris Kirkguard, Robert Musick and JT Musick. She is survived by her son Tim Powell and his wife Page, along with their children Tiffany Pischel and her husband Dustin, Ginny Coulter and her husband Stephen, Amy Sue Hawthorne and her husband Darren, David Powell, Courtney Powell, and Hunter Powell and wife Madison. Additionally, She leaves behind a legacy of love embodied by her seven great-grandchildren; Landon Coulter, Emma Coulter, Hazel Coulter, Brook Coulter, Olivia Hawthorne, Lily Pischel, and Mark Pischel. Helen's memory will also be cherished by her numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of dear friends, whose lives she touched with her warmth and generosity. In honoring Helen's remarkable life, let us find solace in the enduring legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
