James Maurice DuPuy

James Maurice DuPuy entered into God’s Kingdom peacefully in his home on August 7, 2015, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. James was a devout Christian in the Presbyterian Church. He served as an elder and deacon in multiple congregations. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1967, serving in Vietnam. For over 45 years, he worked in the oil and gas industry as an electrical designer. His many projects took him to locations from Florida to Alaska and everywhere in between. He was an avid woodworker, bird watcher, and had knowledge of nearly any hobby imaginable. James was a member of the Woodworkers Club of Houston. In his last years, one of his favorite past times was spending time with his six beloved “kidalids.” James’ most prized treasures were his family, his friends, and his faith. One of his greatest passions was serving The Lord by playing Santa Claus, spreading the Joy of Christmas to hundreds of children each season. He told children that Santa delivers gifts just as Christ was a gift to us, explaining the meaning of Christmas and proving that Santa is real! As Santa he visited daycares, churches, corporate events, private homes, and special needs classrooms each year. James Maurice DuPuy was born October 2, 1943 in Hempsted, New York to William Maurice and Elizabeth Marybell (Alsworth) DuPuy. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Pearl DuPuy Kunze; and grandson Ernest St. Clair Miller III. James is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Dian Dalrymple DuPuy; daughters, Jennifer DuPuy Miller and husband Adam, Tanya DuPuy Sims and husband David, Stephanie DuPuy Lunsford and husband David; grandchildren, Megan and Charlie Miller, Daniel and Emily Sims, and Annabelle and Grace Lunsford; sisters, Mary Kathryn DuPuy Wood and husband Ed and Della Ruth DuPuy Krimsky and husband Hal; brother-in-laws, John Dalrymple and wife Jackie, George Dalrymple and wife Angie, Jerry Dalrymple and Linda Andrews, and David Dalrymple and wife Delynn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
