Janet Marie Wilder

Janet Marie (Collier) Wilder, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep with her three sons by her side on Wednesday, the 13th of January 2016, at the age of 67, following a courageous hard-fought battle with cancer. Janet was born September 29, 1948, in Marin County, California. After being stationed various places across the USA during her childhood, Janet’s family eventually settled in Texas. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1966. She went into the mortgage business and continued successfully in that field in many different roles, including several managerial positions throughout her career. Janet was a dedicated employee and spent much of her career in DeSoto and Round Rock, Texas. She coached her sons in soccer, and she herself played in a woman’s soccer league well into her late 30’s. She also really enjoyed dancing. One her favorite things to do was spend time with her close friends and family at the beach. Janet’s life and life-spirit seemed to sparkle when she became a Nana, and her grandchildren all adored her. She was a loving, caring, sharing and warm-hearted woman who loved and treated everyone with kindness and respect. She instilled great values of hard work, persistence, and compassion in her children. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Gorman L. Collier and Elna Mae (Hawkins) Collier, step-mother Leslie (Jameson Stallings) Collier, sister Barbara Ruth Collier, and brother Michael Gorman Collier. Janet is survived by her three sons, Bryan Wilder and wife Cheri, Brad Wilder and wife Melissa, Brett Wilder and wife Chrystine; six grandchildren, Braden, Madelyn, Marlee, Julia, Megan, and Meredith; one great-grandchild, Paityn; her brother David Collier, sister Linda McFarlane, step-sisters Judi Mayne and Holly Mullins, and half-brothers Chris Collier and Gordon Collier, along with their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend Rhonda Barnes, many devoted friends and extended family, and her beloved dog Annie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
