Larry Randolph Trotter

Larry Randolph Trotter, age 78, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 in Carrollton, Texas. Larry was born on December 14, 1946 in Jacksonville, Texas to Jesse and Dorthy Trotter. Larry had a very funny and kind soul. He was quick to make someone laugh with his witty humor and sarcastic banter. He treated people with kindness, and always wanted to do what was right by everyone. He was a devoted husband to his late wife of 47 years, Linda Trotter, who passed away in 2024. In Larry’s early years, he enjoyed spending time with his father, brother and nephew at the race track, where his love and passion for car racing began. Many days and nights were spent at Playland Park which is now the home of the Astrodome. As he grew older, he was involved in racing at Meyer Speedway with his brother Tracy and nephew Tracy Bryan, and eventually became a driver as well. He continued watching racing on television once the speedway was closed. Larry enjoyed history, documentaries, football and baseball. He loved animals, especially his dogs Gabby and Sophie. At age 15, Larry was determined to help his mother make ends meet and got his first job. His work ethic carried through the years, even after enduring two open heart surgeries and an aneurysm repair. Larry was determined to get back to work as soon as possible to continue providing for his family. For over 40 years Larry stayed faithful to his career as a truck driver and concrete dispatcher. He was a proud dad, brother and uncle. As a very present parent, he made a point to be involved with his daughter’s interests from childhood all the way to her adult years. His love for his family, devotion, determination, pride and work ethic is a legacy that will carry on. Larry is survived by his daughter; Amber Trotter, step-son; Nicholas (Merritt) Trotter, sister; Charlotte (Ed) Moreland, grandchildren; Nicholas Trotter Jr., Jaxon Trotter, Brittany Loudy, and Amber Wunsch, brother-in-law; Dennis (Maureen) Raney, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his wife; Linda Trotter, parents; Jesse and Dorthy Trotter, brother; Tracy Trotter, sister; Gloria Myers and best friend; Tommy “Tucker” Smith.
