Robin E Showalter

Robin E. Showalter, a loving mother, devoted Nurse, and proud Air Force Veteran, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025. Robin is survived by her son Shane Wruck; brother and sister-in-law Shawn and Janice Showalter; sisters and brothers-in-law Wendy Linn and Mark Lehker and Holly and Gene Griffith, and her sister Cherie Campbell, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her cherished grandmother, Ann Troska. Robin was born on February 26, 1966, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania where she spent her childhood before joining the United States Air Force in 1984. She was stationed at Andrew’s Air Force Base in Maryland, serving as an Aerospace Medical Services Technician. While on active duty, she was deployed and bravely left her young son behind, in support of Desert Storm. Following 6 years of honorable service, she moved to San Antonio, Texas and earned her nursing degree from San Antonio College School of Nursing. Her nursing career began at Methodist Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio, Texas where she worked in many departments including Labor and Delivery, Cardiac Cath lab, and the operating Room. In 2008, she then moved to Houston, TX, where she served as an Operating Room Nurse at Specialty Surgery of Houston. She continued her work as an OR Nurse until 2016, when she became the founding nurse of ThrIVe Drip Spa. For decades, Robin brought compassion, leadership, and a deep commitment to wellness to her patients, clients, and colleagues alike. She was known for her wit, wisdom, and mentorship- teaching younger healthcare professionals to be confident, genuine, honest, and less burdened by the need to please everyone. Robin deeply adored her son, Shane, and proudly spoke of him to anyone who would listen. She often shared how touched she was by his thoughtful gestures- opening doors, carrying her groceries, and always making her feel loved and cherished. Robin found joy in simple pleasures, enjoying nature on the scenic shores of Bora Bora and Hawaii to the beautiful mountains of Wyoming, Montana, Colorado and Alaska. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and birdwatching – especially during hummingbird season- and cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. She had a soft spot for animals, particularly her recuse dog, Buka, whom she lovingly made homemade treats for. Robin also had a lifelong love of golf and traveled extensively to attend tournaments, including The Masters, Shell Houston Open, Texas Children’s Houston Open, and the PGA Championship. She also delighted in following her client’s journeys as they trained for and competed in marathons and Ironman competitions. Robin will be remembered most for her unwavering care for those around her. She had a rare gift for telling the truth – whether it was comfortable or not – and a strength of character that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
