Stafford Hillman

William Stafford Hillman, born June 17, 1950, passed away December 31, 2022, in Spring, Texas after enduring a long, strenuous battle with cancer. Stafford grew up in Louisiana enjoying life on the bayou. He was the 7th of 9 children to Frank and Ruby Hillman. He dearly cherished his siblings, grandchildren and family. Many hours were spent on the phone and facetime with his loved ones or preferably sitting around a campfire or back porch reminiscing. Every morning he'd rise early and read his bible while drinking his coffee. His career was in the oilfield, selling pipe, travelling from Alaska to Brazil to France. Most evenings at home, you'd find him eating a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream while telling whatever sports team he was watching how they could improve their game. He loved to garden. Not a day went by that he didn't do something in his yard. He collected plants from his siblings and could proudly tell you from whom each plant originated. He enjoyed watching and photographing the plants as they bloomed, especially the Crinum Lilies. Wooden bowls, candlesticks, vases, and all sorts of creations from his woodturning now fill his house and are found in the homes of many of his friends and family. Stafford enjoyed playing golf and frequently spoke joyfully of his golfing buddies. He taught his boys to play the game and countless miles were traversed on the golf course. He also coached his sons in baseball and would often shoot hoops in the driveway or throw the football in the yard. Many trips were taken to the beach or bayou with his family. Sitting by a campfire, telling stories, watching wildlife and enjoying God's creation filled his days. Once his boys left home, his red corvette was his preferred mode of transportation. He had an unwavering faith in God. He was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church for over 40 years. Through his long, 23-year battle with cancer, he continued to grow in faith and trust in the Lord. He truly endured to the end. He was husband to Judi for 45 years, Dad to Zachary and Garrett, Father-In-Law to Cheryl, 'Papa' to Leah, Joshua, Jacob and Ayla, Brother, Brother-In-Law, Friend, and Uncle Stafford to many.
