Terrance Witte

Terrance Ray Witte was born on May 6th, 1949 in Anadarko, OK to Cecil Ray and Katherine Witte at the Anadarko Hospital during the Washita River Flood in 1949. Terrance was the most honest, intelligent, kind, and humorous man, son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather anyone could ever ask for. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Anadarko from 1st–7th grade. He then started attending Anadarko Public School and graduated in 1967. “In May of 1949 we received a heavy rain along with Fort Cobb and Carnegie of several inches, maybe 10. The river was high level flood stage. That night we were graduating from ninth grade. The river was out everywhere. You could not leave Anadarko. Highways were underwater. The highway to Gracemont was washed out. In our class, the best I remember, three students who lived outside the town limits, Jill Cartee and Ed French, they wanted to graduate with us! They flew across the river, picked up the students and flew them to graduation. After it was over they were flown home! His mother would always joke about almost giving birth in a boat on her way to the hospital. Terrance was always a hard worker. His father worked at the Anadarko Daily News. At the age of 12 Terrance got his first job delivering papers. He was able to save up enough money to buy his first car at the age of 16. He then started working at the grocery store. He later started work at the Public Service of Oklahoma at the Southwest Station at Washita on November 24th, 1970. For the first 6 months that he worked there he was a maintenance mechanic helper, then as an intake operator for a year, then as an equipment operator for 5 years. He had to work in extreme cold and heat. He then moved to an assistant station operator for 9 years, then to a station operator for 22 and a half years. In 2001 he was in maintenance till he retired in May of 2010. Terrance wore many hats which included painter / asbestos inspector, heavy equipment operator, and union steward for 6 years. Terrance was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Katherine Witte, his infant brother Jerome and older sister Cecilia Witte. Also his two loving dogs Megawatt and Lexi. At the 1967 30th class reunion in 1997 Terrance and his 8th grade sweetheart Darlene Johnson reunited and eventually got married on January 20th, 2001. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife of 24 years and beloved dog Doobie. Terrance is survived by his three children from a prior marriage, Teresa Armstrong Conroe, TX, Todd (Amy) Witte Edmond, OK, Angela (March) Baker Midwest City, OK, 9 grandchildren—Brooke (Xavier) Caldwell Fate, TX, Christy Boone Midwest City, OK, Peter Bryant Tulsa, OK, Shanesta Witte Midwest City, OK, Josh (Earny) Hughes Conroe, TX, Justin (Ambrea) Hughes Conroe, TX, Jonathan Hughes Coleman, TX, Brook Nance Edmond, OK, and Noah Nance Alaska, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, a special niece Betty (Gene) Currier Huffman, TX, a special great nephew Kenneth Denton Huffman, TX, and 4 good friends John Kuykendall Liberty, TN, Rondal Jefferson Houston, TX, Kevin Moller and Brandon Moller Spring, TX. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 "Promises a future state where God will 'wipe away every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain because the former things have passed away."
