Thomas Roland Kemp

THOMAS ROLAND KEMP (“Tom”) was born October 19, 1972, in El Paso, Texas, and died unexpectedly on July 21, 2014 in Houston, Texas, at the age of 41. Tom attended the public schools in the Spring and Klein school districts; he then graduated high school, with honors, from The Houston Learning Academy. After serving in the United States Army, he worked in various fields, including for the Neiman Marcus stores, where he was selected as that company's Employee of the Year from the Austin, Texas, store. Tom graduated with an Associate of Science degree, Cum Laude, from McLennan Community College. While there, he utilized his teaching skills and growing medical knowledge to serve as an outstanding tutor of anatomy and physiology in that college’s Biology Department. He thereafter graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Summa Cum Laude, from Texas Tech University. Tom was licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse and worked at several hospitals in Texas and Arkansas, before joining the staff of Dr. Jeremy Moran at the Tomball Foot and Ankle Clinic. Tom was a talented writer, artist, and musician. He enjoyed fishing, playing (and watching) various sports, and studying history. He volunteered at local homeless shelters and advocated for victims’ rights. Tom was gregarious, full of life, and greatly loved. He will be hugely missed. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eula and Frank DeRosa, and Martha and Bill Kemp. Tom is survived by his parents, Carol Kemp, and Roland Kemp; by his brother, Patrick Kemp, and sister-in-law, Kristin, and their children, Tom’s nephew, Thomas Patrick (to whom Tom was godfather), and Tom’s nieces, Emily and Olivia; by his Uncle Thomas Arney Kemp, and Aunt Cathy; by his Uncle Bill Odle-Kemp, and Aunt Marlene; by his Aunt Frankie McRay, and Uncle Jerry; by his Aunt Diane Light, and Uncle David; by his Uncle Michael DeRosa and Aunt Rebecca; numerous cousins and lifelong friends. We praise God for the life He gave to Tom; we thank God for the gift of Tom’s life which blessed our lives!
